Fredy Ortiz Calderón first studied chemistry at the Universidad de la Amazonia in Florencia-Caquetá (Colombia) where he obtained his Bachelor in Chemistry in 2012. Then, he moved to Bogotá D.C (Colombia) where he studied the development and synthesis of organic chemosensors. There, he obtained his Master of Sciences-Chemistry in 2016 at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. One year later he started a Ph.D at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is currently working on the design and synthesis of quantum dots as mercury chemosensor for his Ph.D in co-tutelle at the University of Bordeaux under the supervision of Dr. Nathan McClenaghan and Dr. Gilma Granados at Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
