Shilin Yu studied chemistry at the University of Jinan, china, where he obtained his bachelor degree in 2011. For three years he studied organic synthesis and supramolecular chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Da-Hui Qu in East China University of Science and Technology beginning from 2011. As a recipient of the China Scholarship Council award, he is currently completing his PhD working of photoresponsive supramolecular systems at the University of Bordeaux under the supervision of Nathan McClenaghan and Jean-Luc Pozzo.
